tragedy strikes

I'd like to tell you all about what a wonderful time we had in Montana (which we did), but instead I came home to find out that THIS had happened to my sister and brother-in-law's house:

Everyone is fine, thankfully. Ted and his parents were in the room when it happened and his mom was a bit injured and shaken up, but otherwise okay. (Melissa was in the bathroom at the rear of the house at the time.) What you can't tell from the picture is that the roof caved in, and they have to move out until it can be rebuilt, which will likely be several months. Not ideal when you are 9.5 months pregnant, the baby's room is finished, and all of the wonderful gifts people have given you to make life easier are now trapped inside a demolition zone. I feel so, so badly for them that it just breaks my heart. Please send positive thoughts their way.

I can't even imagine something like that with a new baby. I will send some positive energy their way.

overwhelming is the about the jist of it. numbness settles in after fits of pure panic & intermittent bouts of sadness. though this home was a member of the family in so many ways for melissa and i and bergen(oh and lets not forget our two precious cats) it is still a house of some wood, some bricks, and some mortar. all of which is readily available for replacement. our real "home" is all of us, which are alive, healthy, safe, and sound( that term i will use lightly cause our emotions are still up and down). your loved ones create your real home and are not so easily rebuildable.
when things this big happen no one knows what to do, i surely don;t but things are happening to put our lives back together. my insurance has truly been on top of their game with this. only one phone call and that has just snowballed. they have taken care of pretty much everything since, allowing me to take care of melissa, mom and the rest of us.
updates will pour in either through here at chillable or over at melissa's blog and my own. hopefully the next major updates we get to give will be of the joy of the arrival of bergen to join us all in this party of life!
but to close.. yes the dining room on the front left side of the house kitchen hall bath (well pretty much the left side of the house going back is a loss). the tree is now gone, two cranes had to lift it off the house. a pretty blue tarp now covers the roof. a crew of people are now boxing up and cataloging all of our belongings to put into storage for the rebuilding process, we get the keys to a beautiful condo uptown in the morning. so things are happening... life continues... and rainbows await. thank you all for you love and those positive vibes...we need them dearly.
